SkinPen® by Bellus Medical is the first and only FDA-approved microneedling device. Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is used to reduce common signs of aging and other skin issues. How it works

Your blood will be drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate the PRP, which contains a high concentration of platelets and other growth factors. The plasma is then applied to your face and neck during your microneedling session. The micro-injuries caused by the microneedling procedure allow your skin to absorb the PRP and begin to regenerate new skin cells, resulting in an improved appearance and healthy glow.

You may experience minor discomfort during treatment, which can be alleviated with a topical anesthetic.

Downtime is minimal, but usually includes mild redness and irritation that lasts for one to three days.
PRP is a regenerative process.
Results will begin to appear 1-2 weeks after treatment and continue to improve over time.
For optimal results, three treatment sessions spaced one to two months apart are generally recommended.

DOES THIS PROCEDURE HURT?

No. We make sure you’re good and numb before we place the microneedling tool anywhere near your skin.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

Your skin will likely be red for the first 24-48 hours after treatment, so you might want to plan on laying low for the first day, particularly since you should not apply makeup for the first day after your session. However, you shouldn’t experience any discomfort following your treatment and so many patients choose to resume their normal activities. Following the first 24 hours, you can use makeup to hide any residual redness.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Generally, patients need about 6-8 microneedling treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to see the full benefits. You will probably notice a difference after only a single session, but your friends and family may not notice until treatment 3 or 4. However, one of the many benefits of the PRP is that your results will manifest more quickly and dramatically.
